Utah Slated for Two Exchange Programs

The Affordable Care Act will require most Americans to have health coverage by January of 2014. Each state has their own unique health insurance exchange, which is an online portal where insurance plans can be reviewed and purchased which are in compliance with the new federal mandates.

In Utah, Governor Gary Herbert just received approval to have two exchange programs.  Jennifer Dobner of the Salt Lake Tribune reports that, “Utah will have two online marketplaces for health insurance – one run by the federal government for individuals and the state’s existing Avenue H  (www.AvenueH.com) for the employees of small businesses.”

While many companies solely employ residents from their own state, there are companies that hire and employ workers outside of the state where they are based. We will be keeping our clients informed about the Exchanges available in every state in which they have employees.
